| This is the determination of the Railroad
Retirement Board concerning the continuing status of Atlanta Terminal
Company (ATC) (B.A. No. 4502) as an employer under the Railroad Retirement
Act (45 U.S.C. § 231, et seq.) (RRA) and the Railroad Unemployment
Insurance Act (45 U.S.C. § 351, et seq.) (RUIA). ATC has been an
employer under the RRA and RUIA with service creditable from February
11, 1903.
Mr. M. W. Jackson, Manager,
Payroll Accounting, Norfolk Southern Corporation (NS) (B.A. No. 9408),
reported that ATC merged into Central of Georgia Railroad Company
(CGR) (B.A. No. 1505) on January 31, 1986. CGR is a subsidiary
of NS and reports its railroad service and compensation to the Board
under B.A. No. 9408, as do all NS subsidiaries. ATC merged into CGR
on January 31, 1986. CGR was the surviving company and ATC ceased
to exist.
Based on the information set forth above, it is
the determination of the Railroad Retirement Board that AtlantaTerminal
Company ceased to be an employer covered under the RRA and RUIA on
January 31, 1986, the date on which it merged into the Central
of Georgia Railroad Company.
