• Preceded by rail service in same or preceding year, and
• Entered involuntarily or during war or national emergency,
• If used by the Board, cannot be used as quarters of coverage to qualify under social security

• War and national emergency periods:
  • 09-08-39 - 06-14-48 World War II
  • 12-16-50 - 09-14-78 Korea/Vietnam
  • 08-02-90 - ending date not yet determined Persian Gulf/Current Conflict
• Compensation credited:
  • 1937 - 1967 $160 per month
  • 1968 - 1974 $260 per month
  • Years after 1974 Up to social security maximum
• Creditable military service can be used to meet minimum
  service requirements –- 10 years, or 5 years performed
  after 1995.
