Notes:
- If employee retired with less than 10 years of service, 5 of which are
after 1995, reduced tier II benefit is payable to spouse at 62. Reduced tier I
amount is only payable to spouse if employee had insured status under social
security based on combined railroad and social security earnings.
- If employee has less than 10 years of railroad service and the spouse is
already entitled to an age-reduced social security benefit, the age reduction
in her or his tier I will be based on the age reduction applicable on the
beginning date of the spouse’s social security benefit, even if the spouse is
already of full retirement age on the beginning date of her or his railroad
retirement annuity.
