How Do I Qualify?

• Current benefit year began July 1, 2008
  • Ends June 30, 2009
• Need earnings of $3,075.00 in calendar year 2007 to qualify
  • Counting earnings of no more than $1,230 per month
• New employee needs 5 months' creditable service if base year (2007) is first year as railroad employee

Notes:

• Above amounts change annually. For benefit year beginning July 1, 2009, need earnings of $3,200 in 2008, counting no more than $1,280 per month.
• If railroad employee’s first year of railroad service was 2008, he/she is not eligible for unemployment or sickness benefits until July 1, 2009. Must have 5 months’ creditable service in 2008.
