About Your Service & Compensation Statement

The service and compensation statement is a record of your railroad compensation and service months that are creditable under the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act and Railroad Retirement Act for each year you worked in the rail industry. It includes what your employer reports annually, and any adjustments made to your service and compensation.

We can provide you with your entire service and compensation statement upon request. For each year you worked in the railroad industry, your service and compensation statement will provide:

  • The amount of reported creditable compensation. Creditable compensation is the total of tier I, sick pay, and miscellaneous compensation, and is limited to the tier I maximum for each specific year.

  • The number of service months you were credited with each year. Beginning in 1960, the statement provides a monthly detail of service months.  For 1959 and earlier, only the yearly total for service months is displayed.

  • The total number of any military service months that are creditable as railroad compensation. Military service will only be listed if you have filed advance proof of your military service with the RRB.

You can access your Service and Compensation Statement online after signing in to myRRB, or you can submit a request for us to send your Service and Compensation History Statement to you in the mail.
