ID-4K Notices

Form ID-4K, Prepayment Notice of Employee's Applications and Claims for Benefits under the Railroad Unemployment Insurance Act is released by the RRB to employers to notify them that their employees have filed an unemployment application, unemployment claim, or sickness claim with the RRB.

BA-6a Request

If the RRB received a service and compensation report for an employee for whom no address was reported, the RRB will send the employer a BA-6a request. The request will appear in the Outstanding Items list. To work a BA-6a request, select Outstanding Items from the menu and click the employee's SSN from the list. This brings up the BA-6a screen pre-filled with identifying data for the employee. Type the address information and click the update button. Instructions for maximum address length and state abbreviations are in the appendices section.

How to Initiate Form BA-11 Report

To initiate a Form BA-11, Gross Earnings Report a user should click on the BA-11 icon located under the Forms area of the ERS menu. The “Form BA-11: Report of Gross Earnings” screen will then appear. If the employer information is accurate, select the appropriate earnings year from the drop down menu and press the “Submit” button to access the ERS filing option screen.

To initiate an annual report of creditable compensation a user should click the BA-3 icon from the forms menu area in the navigation section. This brings up the Form BA-3 “Select Report Year” screen. To initiate an annual report of creditable compensation a user should click the BA-3 icon from the forms menu area in the navigation section. This brings up the Form BA-3 “Select Report Year” screen. If the employer information is accurate from the drop down menu select the appropriate earnings year you wish to report service and compensation for and press the “submit” button to access the ERS filing option screen.

BA-6a Initiated by Employer

Employers are responsible to annually report addresses for new hires in the previous year. Address changes are reported by the employee, not the employer.

Click BA-6a under the Forms menu. This brings up a blank BA-6a screen. Enter the employee identifying data as usual. Keep in mind that these are new hires and, as such, may be new records at the RRB. Entry of a middle initial is optional. Type the address information and click the approve button.
